This season NBA superstar Kobe Bryant has resurrected his career as one of the best all-around players in the league and arguably the one of the most dominant scorers of all-time while leading the Los Angeles Lakers to a 9-5 record. Despite being focused on getting the Lakers back to elite status in the NBA, Kobe will have another challenge at season’s end as he will lead the way for Team USA once again, but this time in the 2012 Olympics in London, England.
Even though Kobe Bryant is pretty much a guarantee to make the final 12-player roster for head coach Mike Krzyzewski, the Black Mamba will have to compete with the 19 other players selected to Coach K’s 20-man roster. Along Kobe Bryant, three other players from Los Angeles teams have been selected to compete for the final 12 spots in Clippers stars Blake Griffin, Chauncey Billups and Chris Paul.
Here are the 20 finalists for the 2012 Team USA squad:
Guards: Chris Paul, Los Angeles Clippers; Chauncey Billups, Los Angeles Clippers; Kobe Bryant, Los Angeles Lakers; Eric Gordon, New Orleans Hornets; Derrick Rose, Chicago Bulls; Dwyane Wade, Miami Heat; Russell Westbrook, Oklahoma City Thunder and Deron Williams, New Jersey Nets
Forward: Blake Griffin, Los Angeles Clippers; Carmelo Anthony, New York Knicks; LeBron James, Miami Heat; Kevin Durant, Oklahoma City Thunder; Rudy Gay, Memphis Grizzlies; Andre Igoudala, Philadelphia 76ers; Kevin Love, Minnesota Timberwolves; LaMarcus Aldridge, Portland Trail Blazers and Lamar Odom, Dallas Mavericks
Centers: Tyson Chandler, New York Knicks and Dwight Howard, Orlando Magic
