Kobe Bryant Injury Update: Kobe sprained right wrist in loss to Clippers

On Mon. Dec. 19, the Los Angeles Lakers got their preseason underway by taking on the revamped cross-town rival Los Angeles Clippers. With the Clippers making the blockbuster trade for perennial All-Star point guard Chris Paul, the other team in Los Angeles was in the spotlight on Monday night at the Staples Center. Despite the Clippers grabbing all the headlines, Kobe Bryant tried to change that by attempting to make some big plays against this up-and-coming squad that shares the Staples Center with the Lakers.

Even though Kobe Bryant was noticeably quicker and apparently healthier than he has been in years, the NBA superstar couldn’t get the job done all by himself against the Clippers and as a result was on the losing side of the Battle for Los Angeles in the first of two preseason games against Chris Paul’s Clippers.

Kobe led the way for the Lakers with a team-high 22 points, but paid the price for attacking the rim in the third quarter by landing hard on his right wrist after getting rejected by DeAndre Jordan. The injury looked bad enough for concern once Kobe hit the floor and struggled to get up, but then Bryant hit a jumper on the other end shortly after.

Reportedly, Kobe Bryant did practice on Tuesday and is just fine. The wrist on his shooting hand is sprained, but Kobe will most likely be on the floor for the second preseason game against the Los Angeles Clippers on Wednesday night at the Staples Center.
