On Tuesday, Feb. 5, inside of the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, the Los Angeles Lakers pulled out a crucial 92-83 victory over the Brooklyn Nets. The win sees the Lakers’ record rise to 23-26 as they have now gone victorious in five of their past six games.
One of the highlights of the game took place in the closing minutes of the fourth quarter, with the game tied at 80 apiece. Lakers star guard Kobe Bryant drove to the lane and would deliver a monstrous dunk over Gerald Wallace and Kris Humphries. [Click HERE to see the dunk]
That seemed to be a huge momentum boost, as the Lakers never trailed afterwards.
“As far as the dunk, I just had the lane and I took it,” Bryant claimed in a postgame interview with NBA TV. “I was upset because I missed so many easy ones all night long. I had a lane to the basket and I took it. I thought it was an and-one but I think the ref was surprised that I actually dunked it.”
Bryant finished with a team-high 21 points on 9 out of 24 shooting while adding eight rebounds, four assists, and four steals in 37 minutes.
The slam was surely a sour note for Humphries, who is celebrating his 28th birthday tomorrow.
Humphries gained a slice of fame for his relationship and short-lived marriage to reality star Kim Kardashian and he has since focused solely on basketball following their split.
