There are perfect fits when it comes to the football recruiting process then there is Knoxville West running back Nathan Cottrell's commitment to Georgia Tech.

Cottrell (5-10, 185) has committed to the Yellow Jackets and selected them over offers from Concinnati and Middle Tennessee State just to name a few.

He becomes the eighth commitment for the Yellow Jackets in the class of 2015.

Cottrell had a stellar junior season for the Rebels as he rushed for 1,912 yards and scored 26 touchdowns as West (13-2) lost 28-27 to Henry County in the Class 5A state title game.

He rushed for 153 yards and scored twice in the state title game loss.

"Nathan's got unreal speed (low 4.3) and cutting ability," West head coach Scott Cummings said.

"He leads by example and always does what is right and expected and he is a great kid that fits the Ga Tech culture."

Cottrell has a 3.6 grade point average and wants to go into engineering which is what Georgia Tech is known for.

Earlier in the offseason, Cottrell ran the
fastest 40 yard dash time at the Nike camp in Atlanta.

Cottrell is the first Tennessee commitment since former Columbia offensive lineman Shaq Mason signed with the Yellow Jackets back in the Class of 2011.

He is the 14th commitment in the Volunteer State in the class of 2015 joining Baylor quarterback Nick Tiano (Mississippi State), Signal Mountain offensive lineman Harrison Moon (Mississippi State), Ridgeway defensive tackle Elontae Bateman (Arkansas State), Ridgeway running back Earl Harrison (Arkansas State), Melrose Safety Tony Pollard (Memphis), Blackman Athlete Jauan Jennings (Tennessee), Nashville Overton defensive back Ugo Amandi (Ole Miss), Ensworth defensive back Donovan Sheffield (Vanderbilt), Ensworth defensive back Rico McGrew (Georgia), Oakland offensive lineman Jack Jones (Tennessee), Maryville defensive end Dylan Jackson (Tennessee), Coalfield offensive lineman Zack Stewart (Tennessee) and Clinton wide receiver Jaylond Woods (Tennessee).
