I see and experience something new every time I visit the Walt Disney World Resorts and Theme Parks. Though it is a large piece of property filled with lost of things to see and do, it is also because the engineers and dream makers working at Disney. They are continually coming up with new and exciting things, including even the smallest of changes and additions.
Some of the small changes include new paintings in queue areas, an added character in a ride, the possibilities are endless. These additions and changes come when Disney closes various attractions for routine maintenance and refurbishments. Try not to think of these closures as an inconvenience, but something to get excited about during your next visit. Because we never truly know what is happening behind those walls.
Let’s take a look at an updated list of closures at the Walt Disney World Resorts:
- Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa’s Ivy Trellis Beauty and Barber Shop will be closed through Feb. 28, 2013 for refurbishment.
- Splash Mountain will be closed through March 19, 2013 for refurbishment.
- Boardwalk Bakery will be closed through April 26, 2013 for refurbishment.
- Blizzard Beach will be closed through March 16, 2013 for its annual refurbishment.
- Kali River Rapids will be closed through Feb. 15, 2013 for refurbishment.
- The Main Street Bakery will be closed through May 17, 2013 for refurbishment.
- Disney Junior - Live on Stage1 will be closed for refurbishment through Feb. 14, 2013.
- The Spa at Disney’s Saratoga Springs is closed for its transformation into “Senses.” No reopening date as been confirmed yet, but is expected to be early July 2013.
- The feature pool at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort will be closing Jan. 24, 2013 for refurbishment.
- Spirit of Aloha at Disney’s Polynesian resort will be closed from Jan. 29-31, 2013 for refurbishment.
- Disney’s Beach Club Resort’s Stormalong Bay Kiddie Pool will be closing Feb. 1, 2013 for refurbishment.
- Liberty Square Riverboat will be closed from Feb. 1-7, 2013 for refurbishment.
- California Grill will be closed starting Feb. 4, 2013 for refurbishment. No reopening date has been confirmed, but is expected near the end of July 2013.
- Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort’s Beach Pool Slide will be closed from Feb. 24-March 8, 2013 for refurbishment.
- Disney’s Polynesian Resort’s Nanea Volcano Pool will be closed from March 4-15, 2013 for refurbishment.
- Mad Tea Party will be closed from April 10-May 21, 2013 for refurbishment.
