Knitting the Year of the Horse into dishcloth patterns

See also

Chinese New Year 2014 celebrates the Year of the Horse. These knitting designs by AnnyKos and Kulyk are easily adaptable for dishcloth patterns to ring in the Chinese New Year on January 31. Kos has designed three horse patterns for 2014, a single horse, and two running horse designs. Kulyk's New Year's design is a generic stranded 2014 snowfall scene. Knitting patterns for dishcloths generally run about 35 stitches wide by about 55 rows or so, and these work really well.

You will find the New Year 2014 knitting designs at as royalty free photos you can purchase or for free. The logo imprinted on the photos should be disregarded when you are choosing yarns from your stash or at your LYS. All of the horse dishcloth patterns are just two-color. The New Year 2014 snowfall scene has three colors. Print out the photo of the horse knitting design and transfer it to graph paper. For instance, using single-point needles, US 7 or 8, and worsted cotton yarn, cast on 33 sts, plus 1 st either side (35 sts total) for this horse design. Use the dark blue yarn for the one stitch on the sides, work all back and forth in stockinette stitch (knit right side, purl wrong side). So start knitting away, there's still plenty of time before the Chinese New Year 2014.
