Knit your own 'Island'

"Island" is a collection by Jane Richmond. Jane lives and knits on Vancouver Island. The book (or eBook) is photographed by Nicholas Kupiak. You will find the book stunningly beautiful. When you are not knitting the patterns, it will have dual purpose as a coffee table book.

Jane has included five patterns and they are all original designs. You will find the patterns have an unexpected yet noteworthy design about them.

Renfrew is a slouch hat or toque with an asymmetrical cable designed in two different lengths. The cable is a mock cable that looks good and does not require a cable needle. Rathtrevor fingerless gloves stop mid way up your arm. Beaded ribbing adds just the right accent. Strathcona is an openwork linen scarf that will compliment any outfit. It has a center "V" and is knit much like a triangular shawl in the mesh stitch.

Arbutus is a cowl that is unique in its design. Knit using one skein of yarn in three tiers. The back is solid yet, the front gives the illusion of three different cowls. Don't be surprised if your friends want to know more about this pattern. The Grace cardigan sweater has raglan sleeves and a yolk design. The sweater starts at the round neck and works down. A schematic is given to help you knit the sweater to fit.

"Island" is a mini knitting vacation you will enjoy.
