"Knit Swirl!" by Sandra McIver is a pattern collection of uniquely flattering one piece, one seam swirl jackets. Knitting in circles whether inside out or outside in, has taken up a spot in knitting. This jacket has found its place among the classics.
There are four silhouettes with 18 patterns of styling and sizing to choose from. They all start from the outer circle knitting in. The welt design is made up of purl rows and then knit rows. It is a large project but don't let that dissuade you. If you can knit and purl, it will be a stylish addition to your wardrobe.
The first time I saw this jacket was on the runway at Vogue Knitting Live NYC. Jacket after jacket swirled down the runway on models of different shapes and sizes with beautiful drape and motion. There are jackets that can be worn upside down for a totally different look. Jackets with a large collar can be used as a hood. The audience as well as myself were buzzing about this jacket. What color, what length, what size would look best on me, were some of the questions.
The jackets are sized 1, 2 and 3. At the show you were able to try them on for size. The sizes can be thought of as small, medium and large. Sandra will walk you through the sizing to best fit your shape.
The book is a hardcover stunner you will refer to over and over. The pictures are clear and detailed, the charts, diagrams and written directions will make this project easy. I have started on mine and can't wait to wear it. I am already deciding on which one to knit next.
Which one will you be knitting? What color?
