Tomorrow, knitters have not one, but two options if they are looking to knit for a good cause with their fellow crafters. Both The Nook in Lisle and Loopy Yarns in Chicago are hosting knit-in events for charity, and knitters and crocheters of all skill levels are invited to attend.

Beginning at 6:00a.m., Loopy Yarns will be making space for knitters in their South Loop store for Knit Around The Clock, an annual event which raises money for an organization called Committed Knitters. The event will continue until 1:00a.m. on Sunday, with knitters welcome to stay the entire time or come and go for a portion of the day.

The event registration fee is $30, payable by check to Committed Knitters, and participants will receive lunch and a tee shirt commemorating the event. Committed Knitters is an organization which benefits the Department of Women's Justice Services in Cook County Jail. The programs provide creative training and a self-esteem boost, as well as a more focused work ethic, for female inmates in the Cook County justice system. The training in the craft has shown to help in the passing of time at the prison, as well as providing better preparation for work life after inmates' release from the system.

In addition to the event, Loopy Yarns is currently holding a sale on their regularly priced yarns through Sunday, so participants in Knit Around The Clock can purchase yarn for their next project at a discount, and they can finish projects during the nineteen-hour event.

Over in downtown Lisle, The Nook will be hosting a Lock-In event at their store to make items benefitting Snug Hugs for Kids. From 6:00p.m. Saturday to 2:00a.m. Sunday, knitters will be able to purchase yarn and snacks, and make items for kids. The sole purpose of the organization is to warm and comfort kids who otherwise cannot provide their own warmth and comfort, due to medical or financial confinement.

With The Nook also selling old-fashioned candy and beverages, participants can snack while they knit. Also, for the month of April, The Nook is offering 15% off the regular price of all purple yarns in the store, so participants can get a discount on project yarns upon arrival at the event. Call The Nook at 630-968-0764 for more information, and to reserve your spot at the event.

Both stores are located near public transportation, so knitters can get their projects going for a good cause from sunrise on Saturday morning until well into the night. Contact The Nook and Loopy Yarns directly for directions to each location.
