The biggest fight in the heavyweight division at the moment is a showdown between either of the Klitschko brothers and new champion David Haye.
Haye has pulled out of fights with both of the brothers in the past for one reason or another, leading to anger from Vitali, who at one time dismissed the idea of facing Haye. After the abysmal Johnson vs. Klitschko fight last weekend however, suddenly the prospect of fighting Haye looks a lot more promising, even to Vitali.
In the immediate future, Haye has a mandatory defense of his WBA title against John Ruiz, while Vitali is in the process of making a fight against the Russian giant Nicolai Valuev, who Haye beat to gain his title. Should both men emerge victorious from their next fights (and they both should) the unification bout will probably happen early next year.
The only concern from a fans point of view is that if Vitali beats Haye, which he would be the big favorite to do, then the Klitschko's would have yet another title, and their stranglehold on the heavyweight division would continue. At least in Haye the division has a champion friendly to western media (i.e English speaking) and someone capable of producing a sound bite.
For anyone who missed it (lucky you) here is some of the absolute shocker from Kevin Johnson and Vitali Klitschko last weekend. Watching this video, even Haye's detractors will see why the heavyweight division needs someone like him to breathe some life into the division.
