KJRH shows end of 'Live with Kelly and Michael' instead of Pope departure

In an event not seen for over 600 years, a Pope, the leader of the Catholic Church, has resigned and retired today live on TV, except on ch 2.1 KJRH who showed the ending of “Live with Kelly and Michael”. NBC started seven minutes before 10 a.m. and KJRH just live streamed the coverage on KJRH.com. They joined the Today Show's live coverage of the Pope's departure at 10 a.m. Two of the other network affiliated stations, KOTV and KTUL, showed the Pope's departure. The Fox affiliate KOKI rarely interrupts local programming. KJRH could avoid making controversial decisions by setting up another digital station and putting all special reports, local sporting events, and weather interruptions on it. KTUL could do the same with ch 8.2, while KOTV could utilize ch 6.3. KOTV currently takes the second half of Face the Nation and puts it on ch 6.3 at 11 a.m. on Sundays.

Pope Benedict XVI claims that the reason he is retiring is that it is for the good of the church because he is old and can't do the work of the church. That would imply that Pope John Paul II (and most of the other Popes) didn't have the best interest of the church because most stayed in office in worst shape and actually died as Pope. Also most of those Popes didn't have the internet and social networking which allows even healthy people to work from their beds.

A lot of speculation has arisen over his reasons to retire. Some speculate that the third secret of Fatima held that the Pope after Benedict is going to be the Antichrist and Benedict is going to stay around to have the moral authority to defeat him. The Catholic Church released the third secret in 2000 but it didn't live up to the hype so it is speculated that the released document is fake or there are more pages.

Another speculation is that there is a rift between the pedophile faction of the Catholic Church against the gay faction and Benedict didn't want to get in the middle. The Catholic Church has been collecting naked pictures of children called virginals since at least the Dark Ages. Great Britain's top cardinal, Keith O’Brien, who in public denounced homosexuality, was forced to resign because of inappropriate acts with seminarians.
