The first ever "Kitten Bowl" premiered on Hallmark Channel on Feb. 2, 2014, the day of the Super Bowl. The first show aired at noon and there will be continuous encore airings throughout the day. TV personality and animal advocate Beth Stern, the wife of Howard Stern, hosts the game that celebrates the cuteness of kittens. Attached are pictures of the kittens from Hallmark Channel.
The official radio voice of the New York Yankees and Emmy winning host of Yankeeography and Yankees Classics on the YES Network, John Sterling, serves as the official play-by-play announcer joined by former NFL cheerleader Renée Herlocker.
“Kitten Bowl” promises to knock your fuzzy socks off with an abundance of today’s stars across all aspects of entertainment including film, television, music and sports. Joining the fun and adding commentary are celebrities including: Regis Philbin, Rachael Ray, Hoda Kotb, Lisa Vanderpump, Bob Harper, Chuck Nice, Maksim Chmerkovskiy, Carrie Ann Inaba, Nicky Hilton, Kelly Rutherford, Aiden Turner, Cory Kalanick, Julian Stark and Rocco DeSpirito.
According to Beth Stern, kitten bowls are also being held in animal shelters across the country. The show, like Animal Planet's Puppy Bowl, promotes pet adoption. Eight million animals end up in shelters every year and half of them are cats.
Watching the kittens' playful antics brings smiles and laughs as they play on the miniature replica of a football field, complete with basic obstacle courses of hurdles, tunnels, hoops, jumps, weave poles, lasers, lures and toys on strings,
