Game of Thrones fans will surely have a vested interest in how this whole thing plays out. It's been known for a few months that Kit Harington, aka Jon Snow, is in the running for the role of Mr. Fantastic in an upcoming reboot of The Fantastic Four, but it appears that he might have to compete with his former onscreen half-brother for the part.
Trade publication Variety reported on Tuesday that with the script completed for the film, actor testing for lead roles is expected to begin by the end of the month.
One name said to be on the short list is Harington's former costar Richard Madden, who was killed off Thrones during season three last summer and is starring in the Discovery miniseries Klondike this week. Miles Teller (Divergent) said at Sundance that he'll be testing for Mr. Fantastic as well.
Ioan Gruffudd last played the intelligent and super-elastic Marvel character in the 2005 version and 2007 sequel.
As for the female lead, Kate Mara (House of Cards) and Saoirse Ronan (The Lovely Bones) will be testing for the role of Sue Storm, previously played by Jessica Alba. Michael B. Jordan, who is currently doing press for his role in That Awkward Moment alongside Zac Efron, is rumored to be playing The Human Torch and will test with the group of candidates to get a feel for chemistry.
Chronicle director Josh Trank will serve in the same role for Fantastic Four, which is scheduled to open in June 2015.
