Kissing pics of Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart yanked from top celebrity site

On the evening of October 18, celebrity gossip site PopSugar posted a series of pictures showing Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart kissing, cuddling and embracing by the pool and other outdoor areas of Kristen’s new home.

This is the reason PopSugar posted on October 19, to explain why they removed the kissing pictures of Rob and Kristen from their site:

Update: After learning more about the circumstances surrounding the images previously posted in this story, we have decided they are not up to our editorial standards. We have removed them out of respect for the privacy of celebrities.

But is that really the reason why?

Twilight Fans Predicted the Invasive Pictures Would Be Removed

From the very beginning, a few knowledgeable Twilight fans pointed out that since these looked like candid pictures taken without Rob’s and Kristen’s knowledge or consent, this was a blatant invasion of privacy.

Other Twilight fans argued that it was a set-up - that the pictures were orchestrated to make it seem that way, since people weren’t buying the “back together” pictures and video of Rob and Kristen which appeared earlier this week. However, it’s interesting to note that both groups agreed on one thing.

Because the kissing pictures were taken (or appeared to be taken) without Rob’s and Kristen’s knowledge or consent, both factions of Twilight fans fully expected to see legal action threatened, after which the pictures would be quickly removed.

And that’s exactly what happened yesterday.

The Debate Still Continues

The kissing / embracing pictures of Rob and Kristen have been removed – not just from Pop Sugar, but from every other celebrity gossip site that showed one or more pictures taken from the series of 83 shots.

But there is an interesting explanation as to the reason why

People were not convinced that the “Rob and Kristen togetherness photos and video" that suddenly appeared early this week were the real thing, . The clock was ticking and drastic measures had to be taken to promote the “ Rob and Kristen togetherness factor” before Robert Pattinson left for his Breaking Dawn 2 promotional duties in Australia which begin October 21. Because of this, whoever was orchestrating things behind the scenes was forced to step up their game and pull a more convincing "Rob and Kristen togetherness" publicity stunt before it was too late.

The heated debate between opposing Twilight fans still continues as to whether the kissing / embracing pictures were illegally obtained, or whether the pictures were staged and orchestrated to appear that way in order to promote the illusion that Rob and Kristen are happily back together and the reconciliation was a success. Perhaps the most authoritative version of what really happened comes from the October 19 post by Lainey of Lainey Gossip which says, in part:

Regarding the authenticity of the pictures of Rob and Kristen hugging and kissing poolside at Kristen’s new home, and how these pictures came to be, this is what Lainey had to say:

The photo agency representing these images is AKM-GSI.

It’s the same agency that often shoots LeAnn Rimes when, you know, she’s engaged and she just happens to be gazing out at the ocean with Eddie Cibrian’s arms around her and the ring in full view.

It’s also the agency that shoots Megan Fox when she gets married in Hawaii, top secretly, or when she’s pregnant in Hawaii and the bump is unmistakable and her husband is kissing it.

That they engage the paps to help disseminate their message.

I think that pretty much says it all.

As a journalist with a degree in Advertising and Communications, with an extensive background in public relations, I can personally and professionally vouch for what Lainey says.

These things happen all the time, as anyone behind the scenes in the beauty, fashion, entertainment, advertising, and public relations business can confirm.

However, things are usually done in a much more subtle and inconspicuous way.

The fact that Twilight fans and the general public caught on so quickly that the photos and the video were staged, indicates that whoever orchestrated these PR stunts needs to fine tune their PR skills.
