This St. Patrick’s Day, if you find yourself doing the Irish jig in downtown Las Vegas, stop by The D hotel and casino to rub or kiss the Blarney Stone for a wee bit o’ luck.
Obviously it’s not the actual Blarney Stone—the real thing remains embedded in the wall of Blarney Castle—but according to the old Fitzgeralds Casino (the D was formerly Fitzgeralds), their block of rock is indeed from the famous castle. A placard at the old Fitzgeralds exhibit stated, “The only other stones ever permitted to leave this legendary Irish landmark were used in the Lucky Forest exhibits inside Fitzgerald Casino in Reno, Nevada.”
Kissing the original Blarney Stone is said to “bestow the gift of eloquence.” Here in Las Vegas, however, the stone’s endowments have been redefined to the gift of good fortune.
To find the D’s Blarney Stone head up to the Vue Bar located on second floor in the D's Vintage Casino.
If you’re not in Las Vegas for St. Patrick’s Day, not to worry. The stone has taken up permanent residence, so stop by any time.
