From one of the most popular authors in Christian thriller comes Kiss by Ted Dekker. As a fan of Christian suspense fiction like the Left Behind series, I have been mildly disappointed in the Circle series of Decker books, but Kiss surpassed all my expectations.

After awakening from a coma, Shauna McAllister discovers she has no memory of the past six months, and her beloved brother Rudy is crippled and brain-damaged from an accident which is said to be her fault. This has further damaged her bad relationship with her father who is running for President as well as her shrewish stepmother. But Shauna is not alone -- a boyfriend she does not remember has moved in to help take care of her, along with an Asian housekeeper whose faith reminds Shauna of her own deceased mother.

Shauna also discovers she has an unexpected paranormal ability - the ability to steal memories from others - and she soon realizes things are not what they seem. Unfortunately, all the ugly truths she begins to uncover appear to lead directly to her father, and it becomes apparent there are those who will kill to prevent Shauna from learning the truth.

Filled with suspense, Kiss covers a lot of ground, from political aspirations to black-market child trafficking to pharmaceuticals. Although the plot is sometimes a bit obvious, Kiss is nevertheless fast-paced, with unexpected twists.

Dekker is well known and well loved in Nashville where fans met on their own in June 2007, for an the event they called The Gathering to discuss all things Ted Dekker. It has become an annual event held in different parts of the country each year.
