Kiss me, Kate premieres at Providence High School March 17 (corrected)

On Wednesday, March 17 at 7pm the Providence High School drama department premieres the classic musical, "Kiss Me, Kate", written by Cole Porter.

Kiss Me, Kate is structured as a play within a play, where the interior play is a musical version of William Shakespeare's The Taming of the Shrew.  The two-act musical comedy will feature 18 classic Cole Porter songs such as “Another Op’nin’, Another Show,” “Wunderbar,” “So in Love,” “Always True to You in My Fashion,” “Too Darn Hot,” and “Brush Up Your Shakespeare” and lots of laughs.

Jillian Claire, a senior at Providence High School and the student director of Kiss Me, Kate remarked, "I think Providence's production of Kiss Me, Kate is going to be special because the cast is filled with talented kids who are so passionate about theatre and we have an incredible amount of technical support, as well as the support and encouragement of our directors, parents, and teachers."

The show will run March 17-March 20 at 7pm and there is an additional matinee performance on Saturday, March 20 at 3pm. All performances will be at Providence High School's auditorium located at 1800 Pineville-Matthews Road, Charlotte.

General admission seats are $10 and available one hour before each performance at the school’s auditorium. Advance reserve seating is available to community members who join the PHS Drama Boosters for a donation of $40 or more. For more information, contact the school at 980-343-5390.
