The Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame went far and wide musically with the list of 2014 nominees announced Oct. 16.
But still no Monkees.
The full list of nominees are The Paul Butterfield Blues Band, Chic, Deep Purple, Peter Gabriel, Hall and Oates, KISS, LL Cool J, The Meters, Nirvana, N.W.A., the Replacements, Linda Ronstadt, Cat Stevens, Link Wray, Yes and the Zombies.
The winning inductees, to be announced in coming weeks, will join the already 295 inductees comprising 702 people. According to the Rock Hall, the 2014 inductees were chosen by a secret ballot of over 600 individual voters consisting of all past inductees of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, musicians, historians, critics and members of the music industry.
The public can cast their votes for who they believe to be most deserving of induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame until 5 p.m. ET Dec. 10 at the Rock Hall website, Rolling Stone.com and USA Today.com. The top five artists, as selected by the public, will constitute a “fans’ ballot” that will be tallied along with the other ballots to choose the 2014 inductees.
