Two kirtan events are taking place in Las Vegas Thursday, Feb. 21, and Friday, Feb. 22.
On Thursday Jagadeesh & Shivani, featuring beats by Dr. Joshua Levin, will be singing kirtan at 3108 Shadowridge Ave., Las Vegas, Nev., 89120. Doors will open at 7 p.m., kirtan begins at 7:30 p.m. Admission price is a donation of $10-$15. RSVP on Facebook.

Kirtan is a call-and-response method of song used to connect with the divine and generate a blissful, peaceful state.
In a recent interview on NewWorldKirtan.com, kirtan singer Jai Uttal told Kitzie Stern:
Music opens up the emotions. It opens up the heart. When we get into kirtan I feel like it amplifies that aspect, you know, exponentially. Mantras, particularly the nama mantras, the names that we sing in kirtan...these names are considered another manifestation of the deities. The mantras have incredibly vast power to transform us.
