Kirk meets a sexy Carol Marcus in new 'Star Trek Into Darkness' trailer

On Thursday, Paramount Pictures unveiled a new international trailer (embedded) for J.J. Abrams' upcoming blockbuster, "Star Trek Into Darkness." The over two-minute long video seems to lend viewers clues that lead them away from the popular theory that Benedict Cumberbatch's character John Harrison is Khan, but it also shows us why Carol Marcus (Alice Eve) may end up being James T. Kirk's (Chris Pine) wife in this alternate timeline.

For those wondering about that clue about Carol Marcus, check out the trailer just past the one-and-a-half minute mark.

The plot of "Star Trek Into Darkness" is still mostly under wraps, but for some time it's seemed to be a vengeance movie, and this trailer does nothing to dispel that thought. That could point to Khan, but both Alice Eve and Simon Pegg (Scotty) have said that Cumberbatch is not playing Khan.

The synopis of the film is:

After the crew of the Enterprise find an unstoppable force of terror from within their own organization, Captain Kirk leads a manhunt to a war-zone world to capture a one man weapon of mass destruction.

At the same time the studio released the new trailer, Paramount also released the new poster, shown above.

J.J. Abram's second film in the rebooted "Star Trek" film series, "Star Trek Into Darkness," is scheduled to hit IMAX 3D theaters on May 15 and conventional theaters on May 17.

The highly anticipated movie stars Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Karl Urban, John Cho, Bruce Greenwood, Simon Pegg, Anton Yelchin, Benedict Cumberbatch, Alice Eve and Peter Weller.
