On Monday August 19, the NFL injuries continued to mount up. The Washington Redskins lost Kirk Cousins to an injured foot in the second quarter of the game against Pittsburgh. That’s really not good news for the Washington Redskins at all. It might be fine with Rex Grossman, because he’ll get to play many more snaps these next two preseason games.
While backing up Robert Griffin III, Cousins is supposed to be sought of a savior for the Redskins. One thing the fans did not figure into their plans, was a Kirk Cousins injury. It was all about RG III coming back healthy, and if he wasn’t available for week 1, then Cousins will fill in nicely. Now, the pressure is truly elevated in DC.
According to CBSSports.com Griffin stated to awaiting reporters, “He’s okay people.” Just like that, the NFC East gets interesting. Who knew the sense of urgency would be ratcheted up with an injury to a backup?
Kirk Cousins is scheduled for an MRI on Tuesday. We are all awaiting the results.
During the game, the Redskins beat Pittsburgh 24-13. Rex Grossman was very respectable going (10-16) through the air for 133 yards. He also added a touchdown and an interception.
