On Mar. 5, 2013, police announced that although more than 50 tips have come in regarding the Kira Trevino case, authorities have yet to find the Minnesota woman’s body. Last week St. Paul police announced they believe the missing woman is dead. Kira’s husband, Jeffery Trevino, 39, has been charged with her murder.
According to TwinCities.com, police have searched a number of different areas mentioned by tipsters, but have yet to find any clues as to where Kira, 30, may be.
St. Paul Police spokesperson Howie Padilla told reporters, “To this point, we haven’t had the breakthrough that we need… investigators are asking people—even as they’re out snowblowing and shoveling to remove snow—to think of possible areas in which Kira may have been left.”
He added, “We’ll continue to do whatever we can to find Kira Trevino.”
According to KSTP, police also noted that Kira’s body may be concealed and want the public to keep an eye out for anything that may look suspicious.
Kira was last seen on the night of Feb. 21 leaving work at the Mall of America.
Fox News reported that the criminal complaint against Kira’s husband says a surveillance camera at a gas station near the couple’s home caught a man pumping gas into Kira’s car at about 2 a.m. on Feb. 22. The man then drove the vehicle toward Interstate 35E instead of taking a direct route back to the couple's home. The footage is too grainy to clearly identify the man in the video.
At 9:45 a.m. that morning, security camera shows Kira’s car enter the parking lot at the Mall of America. The image is not clear enough to identify the driver, but shows someone at the back of the vehicle throw something, leave the car, and then get into a taxi cab. According to Fox, the cab had GPS and dropped the individual off near Kira’s house.
She is believed dead because of the large amount of blood found in both her home and her car, say police.
Authorities are urging anyone with information regarding Kira Trevino’s case to call the tip line at 651-560-3277.
