Kiprusoff suffered a lower body injury last night against the Detroit Red Wings, a 4-1 Calgary victory, but it appears the injury is not too serious. According to TSN, the injury is near the MCL, but there is no torned ligament. Expect Leland Irving to get the Flames start Thursday in Columbus with Kiprusoff as questionable for Saturday's game for the Flames in Vancouver.
It will be interesting to see how Kiprusoff rebounds from the injury as it will be the first significant ailment in his hockey career. The veteran netminder has carried the load for the Flames since arriving from San Jose in 2004.
This season Kiprusoff was 2-3-2, with a 3.23 goals against average and .870 save percentage, but the 2006 Vezina Trophy winner was brilliant in a 3-2 shootout loss to Chicago Saturday and for the first forty minutes in the victory over Detroit last night.
