Kip Moore has earned the honor of headlining act for CMT’s upcoming tour titled CMT on Tour 2014: Up In Smoke. MusicRow reported the move, which seems to support the belief that Kip Moore’s popularity is building, on Monday.
Singer-songwriter Kip Moore was recently nominated for the ACM New Artist of the Year, a process completed entirely by fan vote. Though he lost to Justin Moore in the end, Kip Moore has shown that he has what it takes to win over–and keep–country fans.
Though his initial release “Mary Was the Marrying Kind” had average success back in 2011, his second showing, “Somethin’ ‘Bout A Truck” caught fans’ attention and revved all the way up to #1 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart.
As happens with many rising stars, once “Somethin’ ‘Bout A Truck” peaked at the top of the charts, fans had their ears tuned to Kip Moore, ready for a smash follow up. They got two with “Beer Money” and “Hey Pretty Girl”, which both reached the top ten on the Hot Country Songs chart and the top five on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart. Kip Moore has since released two more singles and continues to build his fan base.
The CMT tour will give Kip Moore yet another chance to showcase his abilities. The tour kicks off September 25 in New York and continues through the Midwest and some Southeast stops. Charlie Worsham and newcomer Sam Hunt will serve as opening acts.
Charlie Worsham got his feet wet in country music opening for Taylor Swift and Miranda Lambert. His current single “Want Me Too” is the second release from his debut album “Rubberband.” Sam Hunt has mostly had songwriting credits up until now, including Keith Urban’s “Cop Car” and Kenny Chesney’s “Come Over,” but he will soon release his first single “Leave the Night On” through MCA Nashville.
Kip Moore is currently touring with Tim McGraw and Cassadee Pope on Tim McGraw’s Sundown Heaven Town Tour. Kip Moore’s stint with Tim McGraw will wrap up at the end of August, giving Kip Moore just a few weeks before the 2014 CMT Tour takes off.
