Kingsbury won a World Cup competition on Thursday in Lake Placid, New York by posting a score of 27.05 points. Americans Patrick Deneen at 25.71 points finished in second place, followed by another American, Dylan Walczyk, at 23.57 points in third place.
Kingsbury, who won the 2012 World Cup men's moguls title, is starting to become a strong contender for a medal at the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi. The victory was key for Kingsbury because it was the first of five events that are being used to determine the Canadian men's moguls Olympic team.
The reigning Olympic champion from the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver, Alexandre Bilodeau of Montreal, Quebec, finished in fifth place.
