Apr 8, 2011 – The new Gastro Pub Kings Row opened its doors in Old Pasadena Thursday evening. Housed in a century old building and restored to its original state, the venue counts with all new furniture, large communal tables, hanging lights, and an outdoor patio.
From the team behind Neomeze, the former club at this location, Kings Row is switching its emphasis and talent to the food and drink selections. Portobello Chips, Oxtail Osso Bucco, duck, mussels, and veal dishes are combined with interesting martinis with names like “Fig in the City,” “Mango Kick!,” and “Cool as a Cucumber.” “We have spent months fine tuning the new menu,” said Chef Thomas Jesse, “Kings Row’s well-prepared comfort food has the feel and style like no other.”
For opening night Chef Thomas roasted a pig in his “Caja China,” a roasting box that cooked the animal for about nine hours. (He is planning to roast a pig at least one Sunday of every month!) The crowd also delighted in the Chef’s unique White Chocolate Mac’n Cheese, sliders, salmon appetizers, and the house white and red sangrias.
Owners Shivie Dhillon, Hagop Giragossian, Quasim Riaz and Aidin Yousif have great expectation for their new endeavor. “We want to be taken seriously about our food without being pretentious,” said Giragossian. “We want everybody to eat here. Whether someone wants an Asian Duck Burger or a classic Angus Burger, Kings Row offers it at extremely reasonable prices with the medium price on the menu ranging between ten to twelve dollars.”
Kings Row is located at 20 Colorado Blvd, Old Pasadena CA. Happy hour is every day from 4 to 7 pm, including weekends and all night on Tuesdays.
