A team of "Minecraft" builders have been working diligently on the Westeroscraft project and shared their latest progress Tuesday with a nearly fully realized and stunning version of Kings Landing from "Game of Thrones".
The Westeroscraft project is currently building out the entire land of Westeros from George R.R. Martings "A Song of Ice and Fire" novels and HBO's "Game of Throne" series. This is actually the second build of Kings Landing. The team behind the project learned how to make even better builds as they went along and, "It just didn't look good, and we couldn't have the main city be an embarrassment according to one team member on Reddit named "Contranine". "So after we made Lannisport, and we got ourselves a bigger, better map; we deleted Kings Landing and started again."
"None of the original version of the city remains, not a single building. The scale of the city is just immense now. It has a consistent build style. Everything is unique."
Kings Landing was constructed in part by using WorldPainter and has custom trees. Builds are organized through the forums at Westeroscraft according to team member "pizzainacup" who shared the amazing images you see in our slideshow gallery.
"A person can apply for a city/castle/town, and follow guidelines to make an application," he said. "The mods approve it. The builds plans are layed out using wool blocks, and builders/teams tackle it building by building. Lots of teamwork and cooperation."
The entire Westeroscraft project is accessible through the team's servers found through the website (Note: The website may be down). A download is not available because they are not yet done and it is currently over 35 GB in size. There are plans to release individual cities and locations from "Game of Thrones" though.
