Tuesday has long been a favorite day for video game releases and today is no exception. February 7, 2012 sees the coming of several highly anticipated games to the PC gaming scene. Not least of these is the brand new Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning. Why is this title from a brand new gaming company getting all the hype that consistently eludes its indie brethren? Well, having big names like R. A. Salvatore and Ken Rolston can't hurt. But the real reason?
The reason behind all the hype is because Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning is a brand new title from a brand new studio. This could be the chance for some new blood in the video gaming community. With no prequel title to generate interest, no well received former titles from the company, and no experience seasoned team that has worked together in the past, Kingdoms of Amalur is and will be judged purely on skill. And with a writing and development team like this, can it really go wrong?
Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning is an RPG set in a world of high fantasy. Your can choose from several classes when creating your character, and, as per usual, the character's looks are fully customizable. Don't expect Skyrim's realistic qualities, though. Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning isn't trying to be the most realistic game in the Steam Library, something that could potential hurt a new company in its infant stages if it were to go poorly. Instead 38 Studios has opted in for a more cartoony feel - all the fun with none of the pressure.
If you're looking for a classic high fantasy action adventure RPG, Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning is the game you're looking for this winter. Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning can be purchased and downloaded through online platforms such as Steam and Gamersgate, as well as through online stores such as Amazon. Check local gaming outlets and retail stores near you for boxed copies as well.
