“Kingdom Heats 3” and “Final Fantasy XV” are not competing for resources, according to Square Enix. In an interview with Video Gamer on Feb. 13, Yoshinori Kitase disclosed that the latest “Final Fantasy” video game is currently “quite far into development.”
Although “Kingdom Hearts 3” is being developed at the same time, it won’t be taking resources away from “Final Fantasy XV.” Both next-generation video games have are high priorities for the company. You can take a look at some screens of the PS4 and Xbox 360 titles with the slideshow to the left of this article as well as the comments from the “Final Fantasy” series producer below:
We can't give too much information but certainly looking at Final Fantasy XV, it's not as if it's in competition with Kingdom Hearts 3 for resources or anything like that. It's quite far into development now and it is being given a very high priority within the company itself, but that doesn't mean Kingdom Hearts isn't.
Yoshinori Kitase is co-producing “Final Fantasy XV” along with Shinji Hashimoto. The mainly entry into the popular series has already taken up many resources from Square Enix as it was originally announced in 2006 under a different name of “Final Fantasy Versus XIII.”
With the development of “Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII” being finished and the PS4 port of “Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn” being close to done, the company should turn all of the focus towards “Kingdom Heats 3” and “Final Fantasy XV.” The two titles are coming to the PS4 and Xbox One next-generation systems although the official release dates have not yet been announced in both cases.
