Square Enix announced via a press release on Monday that Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMIX will be coming to the Playstation 3 in 2014. The collection will comprise of playable HD versions of Kingdom Hearts 2 Final Mix (originally on PS2) and Kingdom Hearts Birth By Sleep Final Mix (originally on PSP), both of which have never been available in American territories. Rounding out the compilation will be cut scenes from the Nintendo DS game Kingdom Hearts Re:coded.
The announcement should not come as a surprise to most people considering the effort Square Enix put into making Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMIX and the hints in the game itself that there would be a follow-up that would include the later games in the series. Ultimately, the goal of these two HD releases is to prepare fans of the series who haven't played the earlier games in a while and refresh their memories while also introducing the Kingdom Hearts universe to a whole new generation of people who were either too young to play them before or never gave them a shot to begin with. Ideally, everyone will be up to speed whenever Kingdom Hearts 3 eventually launches on the Playstation 4 and Xbox One.
An exact date for the release of Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMIX has not been given so stay tuned here for more updates as they happen.
