King Nebuchadnezzar destroyed the first Temple as Babylon purged the lukewarm people of God. The Romans, in 70 A.D., destroyed the second Temple, following the prediction of our Lord. America won't be so lucky. For our king seeks the destruction of the temple of our morality, and patriotism, with a single swoop of his insincere, and socialist, scepter.
"I prayed to the God of heaven and then answered the king: 'If it please the king, and if your servant is deserving of your favor, send me to Judah, to the city of my ancestors’ graves, to rebuild it.'” Nehemiah 2:1-8
Nehemiah was sent by God, through the administration of King Artaxerxes, to rebuild both the Temple and the city gates. Nehemiah offered supplications for wood; for the panels of the Temple walls, and the walls of the city. But it's going to take a hell of a lot more than wood to rebuild America! For morality and patriotism, replaced by relativistic licentiousness and entitlement blasé, are not made of tree fiber but faith fiber.
And our nation is within a moral faith crisis!
"How could we sing a song of the LORD in a foreign land?" Psalm 137:1-6
How can we sing hymns of God when we are assaulted by the HHS mandate? How can we sing of Justice when unborn babies are torn to shreds for profit? How can we sing of Mercy when we are being systematically purged of our faith from a watering down of our Catholicism--through a sinister media and pop culture, and timid clergy? How are we to rebuild the Temple, when the wood of brave homilies, and faithful catechesis, is being burned in the fiery anxiety of fitting into the perverted popular culture?
How can the little people of faith fight the behemoth of secular, socialist, and pseudo-Catholic onslaught?
“See that you do not despise one of these little ones, for I say to you that their angels in heaven always look upon the face of my heavenly Father.”
Pope Francis is surely sweet. But too much sugar without the fiber of Catholic morality leads to 'the runs,' and to the diabetic coma of secular relativism. The Pope is ever-faithful. But his style lends itself to Satanic misinterpretation. Catholics need to contemplate the Pope's spontaneous spirituality...and read the Bible and the Catechism. Safety is in Spirit and Truth. Now, little people of meager economic means, and meager political influence, need to be reminded that the Almighty God doesn't give a damn about American politics, for He seeks solely for humble and repentant souls. We, the little ones, must continue to fight the good fight in prayer and Sacrament, in righteous vote and positive-peaceful-public advocacy; but more important, we must keep the faith that God has our back in the fury of angels--angels who seek to protect our eternal soul from the darts of the enemy.
