“King David Show” yanked from sports radio WQYK 1010 lineup

(Tampa Bay, FL) WQYK 1010 AM has pulled the plug on “The King David Show” featuring Toby David and former Tampa Bay Bucs quarterback Shaun King. According to the Tampa Bay Times, WQYK assistant program director Mike Pepper says the station is airing Yahoo! Sports’ Tim Brando in the 12:00 noon to 3:00 p.m. slot for now but would like to fill that hole with a local show. 

Tampa Bay sports talk radio is rapidly changing. Last week 1040 ESPN (WHBO) let go of afternoon drive time host Ron “Night Train” Lane in what appears to be a cost cutting move. Former 620 AM WDAE “The Sports Animal” update man Whitney Johnson has been filling in for Nanci Donnellan in the midday slot due to her taking a leave of absence because of illness. Justin Pawlowski recently left WDAE to go over to WQYK 1010 AM.
