Although Xbox One owners can’t get their hands on the full version of one-time launch title Kinect Sports Rivals, they will be able to play a free trial of the game when Microsoft’s next-gen console launches next month, according to a report today from VG 24/7.
First reported by Polygon, Microsoft said the free “trial experience” of Kinect Sports Rivals will be dubbed Preseason and will give players a taste of the full game.
The news comes after Microsoft announced in July would be pushed back to spring 2014 after developer Rare needed more time to further polish the game and couldn’t make the Xbox One launch date.
Kinect Sports Rivals Preseason will feature wake racing, one of the game’s six activities, and gamers can earn in-game rewards through monthly multiplayer challenges until March 2014, which VG 24/7 reports could hint at the game’s launch date.
Those who download the game between Nov. 22 and Nov. 30 can unlock goodies like the player title “Founder,” a Kinect Sports Rivals wetsuit, and a wake racer.
Players can also keep track of global competitive and local multiplayer challenges through the Kinect Sports Rivals Hub, which gamers can download on Nov. 22.
The Xbox One launches on Nov. 22 in the United States and 12 other markets around the world.
