Kinder man arrested for stealing from elderly victim

In March 2012, Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office detectives received a report from Elderly Protective Services regarding David R. Duplichan, 57, 110 Goodwin Street, Kinder, stealing from an elderly acquaintance.

During the investigation, detectives discovered between March 2010 and February 2012, Duplichan stole over $72,000 from the elderly victim’s personal bank account. Detectives also learned Duplichan was incarcerated in the Lafayette Parish Jail on misappropriation of contractor’s payment charges.

When questioned by detectives, Duplichan confirmed the allegations and also confirmed he sold a truck belonging to the elderly victim for $7,000 without his permission.

On June 6, 2013, Duplichan was booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with exploitation of the infirmed; and theft over $1,500.

Judge Kent Savoie set his bond at $100,000.
