Kimora Lee Simmons says she paved the way for Beyonce and other artists

Kimora Lee Simmons admits that she paved the way for Beyonce, Justin Timberlake and other musical fashion designers. The International Business Times reported on Jan. 24 that the fashion mogul believes that she started the movement for celebrity fashion designers.

Kimora told theGrio.com that no one heard in the fashion world were aware of Beyonce or Jessica Simpson. Thanks to her, they have become big news in the industry. She feels that she "laid the blueprint" for celebrities and musicians that wanted to become designers.

Simmons created the Baby Phat fashion line in 1998. She created the collection alongside ex-husband and rapper Russell Simmons. She left the company in 2010, the year she also split from her husband.

Russell Simmons created another fashion line called Phat Farm, in 1992. It went on to become a multi-million dollar brand.

Kimora Lee Simmons went on to create her own empire. She's now the owner of JustFabulous. She's the President and creative director for the brand. She also stars in the reality show, "Kimora: House of Fab" on the Style Network.
