The Tennessean broke the story of Kimberly Perry’s engagement to J.P. Arencibia on Oct. 1, and Kimberly, who with brothers Reid and Neil Perry makes up the trio The Band Perry, shared the details of the romantic proposal from the Blue Jays starting catcher. It began when Kimberly picked J.P. up at the airport for a visit with her after the baseball season ended for Toronto.
The Perry family lives on 15-acres in Greenville, Tenn. and there is a large oak tree that has been special to Kimberly Perry for several years. Perry confided that the very first time she saw the oak tree she thought, “If I get a proposed to in this life, I hope it happens underneath this tree.”
And indeed that is exactly how it happened, under Kimberly’s favorite oak tree, when J.P. Arencibia presented the “If I Die Young” singer with an emerald cut 3.3 carat diamond ring. Kimberly Perry wore her favorite pink dress and a bracelet her grandfather had given to her grandmother when they had started dating.
