Kimberly Elizabeth Chitty, 55, from Boynton Beach died early Tuesday after she was hit while riding her bicycle in oncoming traffic, according to the Sun Sentinel. Chitty was riding at the intersection of North Congress Avenue and Meadows Boulevard.
The accident occurred on Monday at approximately 8:30pm and Chitty passed away at about 4am this morning at the Delray Medical Center. She was not wearing a helmet, according to the Sun Sentinel.
The southbound traffic had a green light when Chitty rode her bicycle across the street and was hit by a black 2003 Ford Focus that was driving in the right travel lane. The driver of the car was David Adams, 19, of Delray Beach, who attempted to avoid hitting Chitty, but another car was in the way and he couldn't switch lanes, according to the Sun Sentinel. Adams was not injured.
Police ask anyone who witnessed the crash to call Investigator Charles Turco, 561-742-6111.
