“The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star Kim Richards has been working on her sobriety for a few years after coming clean on the show. She admitted she was struggling and her relationship with her sister Kyle Richards was troublesome. Now, she thanks the show for putting her struggles on television. According to a new Radar Online report published on Feb. 8, “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star Kim Richards is now revealing that putting her struggles on television helped her deal with her sobriety.
“I think it’s important to love your job, to enjoy the people you work with—most of the time!” Richards told Dr. Charles Sophy, the Medical Director of the LA County Department of Children and Family Services, on an episode of his podcast. “When I’m not working, I don’t feel good. I need that responsibility. It definitely makes a difference when you love what you’re doing and you like the people you’re working with. I like my producers, I like my crew, I like the girls…most of the time.”
She had left the show in the end of season 2 to focus on herself and get sober. She skipped the reunion, so she could focus on herself. However, those moments after returning home were tough because she had to learn how to fight for herself. “I came home in the first month or two [from treatment] and it was kind of quiet, because we weren’t back in season yet. I was going stir-crazy. I did need that to get out, and go, and feel needed and important,” she said.
But the show helped her stay sober. “My decision to go back to work and live my sobriety out in the public, and live it out on “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills”… it felt so healthy and good to get back out there,” she reveals. “It just felt wonderful.”
