In addition to flaunting fashion and keeping up with the rest of the Kardsashians on their reality TV show, Kim has lost 56 pounds since the birth of her baby on a high fat low carb ketogenic diet. But the diet diva isn't satisfied with what she has achieved and wants to lose 20 pounds more, reported ABC News on August 1.

In an "If I could turn back time" moment, Kim was viewing photos of herself from her girlish golden days. "Ughhh I am 20 lbs lighter here! This was just 5 years ago!" posted the 33-year-old next to a picture of herself.

Kim then decided it was time to share her weight loss plans with her loyal fans. "Ok I'm going back on my grind," she added. "I gotta get back here!"

To "get back here," Kim plans to ramp up her current diet and fitness. She's already working out five days a week, reported E News on August 1.

The result of her workouts plus her high fat low carb ketogenic diet "only" amounts to 56 pounds. But Kim already has posted her longing to return to what she's terming her "Skinny Days."

The designer dress diet diva initially chose the Atkins diet after the birth of her baby girl. The high fat low carb ketogenic diet consists of protein, healthy fats and restricted servings of carbohydrates such as non-starchy vegetables.

Colette Heimowitz, vice president of nutrition at Atkins, said that a sample day on the diet totals "1,800 to 2,000 calories per day." Breakfast could feature an omelet with cheese and spinach, with grilled salmon and asparagus for lunch. Dinner could include chicken and broccoli.

The low carb Atkins diet permits snacks but they must be chosen to maintain nutritional ketosis. Examples include turkey slices and cheese roll-ups or almonds.

But just what does nutritional ketosis mean? "When carbohydrates are restricted, the liver produces ketones to provide an alternative energy source to glucose. Once serum ketones rise to about 0.5, one is said to be in nutritional ketosis," explained Franziska Spritzler, a registered dietitian, in an exclusive interview.

Nutritional ketosis helps with weight loss because it curbs cravings and stabilizes insulin levels. And although some recommend the concept of a "Fat Fast" if weight loss stalls, Spritzler recommends decreasing fat and increasing protein in such cases.

"Unless the meat is extremely fatty, ketone levels will be lower after a steak than after a large hunk of cheese. However, the meat will have a more beneficial effect on weight loss and body composition," she clarified.
