Kim Kardashian says gaining 50 pounds of baby weight and losing it all in four months was the hardest thing she has ever done, but she couldn't be happier with the results.
“I can honestly say it was the greatest challenge of my life, to have gained 50 pounds," Kardashian said on the Tonight Show Oct. 30. "I got on the scale today and it said that I am 50 pounds down, so that made me so excited."
Kim, 33, said dealing with excess weight gain during a difficult pregnancy was even tougher because of gloating haters, who viciously fat-shamed her as her girth expanded.
"I was gaining weight because I was pregnant, and it was really hard to read all these stories and hear all these nasty things," said Kardashian, who confessed that some of the cutting insults "chipped away at my soul."
However, Kardashian admitted the fat-shaming fueled her intense motivation to regain her pre-baby body as quickly as possible.
Kim's weight-loss plan included the low-carb Atkins diet (where she limited carbs to no more than 60 net grams a day and calories to less than 2,200). For exercise, she did Pilates and boot-camp workouts.
Kardashian said the intense public scrutiny of her weight gain has inspired her to lead a quieter, more private, life.
Why would I subject myself to so much negativity, especially now that I have a daughter? I just didn't need that energy, I'd rather be in a happy place at home. I've definitely tried to live more of a private life because because [people] were so nasty. Why even go out as much just to put yourself in that position?"
As she navigates motherhood and prepares for her summer wedding to Kanye West, Kardashian couldn't be more excited. "I'm very happy right now," she gushed. "[The proposal] was the most magical night of my life."
