According to New York Daily News on Friday, Aug. 16, Kim Kardashian threw a conniption fit over Katie Couric's gift to baby North West after the talk show host apparently said she wasn't sure why the Kardashians were famous.
Couric, in an In Touch interview that hit stands on Wednesday, said she couldn't explain how the Kardashians got famous and that "mostly teenage girls are interested". This didn't sit well with Kim Kardashian, who uploaded a picture to her Instagram account of cute baby clothes and a not from Couric that was sent after the baby arrived that said:
Dear Kim and Kanye, congratulations on the birth of your baby girl! As the moth... and may I humbly sugest you continue the K tradition for... Fondly, Katie Couric"*
*TMZ notes that the message is a misprint, and was delivered to Kim and Kanye that way
The description of the picture says: "#Ihatefakemediafriends #MayIHumblySuggestYouNotSendGiftsThenTalkSh--"
Couric hastily backtracked Friday as Kardashian lashed out.
“I’ve met Kim before and I think she's a really sweet person. I was responding to a reporter’s question, and explaining how I’m intrigued by the public’s fascination with her family,” the veteran newswoman said in a statement.
“I didn’t mean to hurt her feelings. The gift is genuine, and I’m happy for Kim and Kanye,” Couric added.
The childish exchange came just two days after Kardashian finally stepped out in public with her infant daughter, called “Nori” for short.
She toted her 8-week-old girl in a pricey baby bag on an outing with Kanye in Los Angeles. You can see the pictures here, but Kim had Nori covered up pretty candidly.
