Seated at the Abbey Dawn by Avril Lavigne fashion show yesterday, excited, gift bag in hand...we were immediately reminded this was no ordinary runway show. Avril, who flew in for the show mid-tour to present her collection, designed another carefree and fun line for Spring 2012. The pop star also featured Kylie Jenner from Keeping Up With the Kardashians, who made her New York Fashion Week runway debut.
We knew the Kardashians arrived when mobs of photographers crashed the runway, but little did we know that Kim Kardashian, Kris Humphries, Kourtney Kardashian, Kendall Jenner, Brody Jenner would be seated directly across the stage from us! The family all dressed in white took their front row seats giving us a great view of the entire Kardashian Klan...minus Khloe. We were also seated near Eric Trump (son of The Donald) and Theresa Guidice of the New Jersey Housewives.
The Abbey Dawn show, hosted by Style 360, an organizer of New York Fashion Week events outside of Lincoln Center, outperformed our expectations. The music for the show was...of course, Avril Lavigne's hits songs, setting the tone for the collection. The items in the line are reflective of Avril's personal style that we've seen evolve over the years. A mix of eclectic patterns, party dresses, and glitter. The hair for the models was edgy, dipped in green, red, and pink...bringing rocker-girl-chic to the runway. And, every time 14-year-old Kylie took the stage...Kim and Kourtney screamed and cheered her on.
At the end of the show, Avril looking overjoyed took a bow at the end, accepting roses, and soaking in the praise.
Kendall Jenner joined Kylie backstage to show moral support, while Kim was overheard saying “it’s a family affair”. The family left in a black SUV surrounded by photographers...in true Kardashian style.
