According to OMG! On March 11, Kim Kardashian underwent a cosmetic procedure on the most recent episode of her TV show “Kourtney and Kim Take Miami.” The procedure is known as a “Vampire Facelift” and involves taking the patient’s own blood from her arm, adding chemicals to it, processing it, and then injecting the mixture into the face where wrinkles occur.
Huh? Apparently the allure of this procedure is the fact that the patient’s own fluid (blood) is being re-injected, just into somewhere else from where it was taken. The facelift procedure was reportedly one of the gifts in the “swag” bags that attendees at the Oscars received last month.
The procedure is certainly gruesome-looking, as you can see from the photo that Kardashian sent out via Instagram, but does it actually work? The $1,500 cost puts it in the same price range as proven procedures such as Juvaderm or Restylane.
Celebrity esthetician Reneé Rouleau suggests that its effect is temporary and limited. "Anything that is really a miracle, everybody will know about it. And this blood facial's been around already for a couple years and it's not a household name, so that right there tells you it's not being embraced. And if it's not being embraced, it's not that effective.”
