"Atkins worked for me and I don't feel tempted to eat a bunch of junk food," Kardashian, 33, told the Sunday Times Oct. 20. "It's just about staying healthy. I still have some [baby weight] to go. It will come off.
Fifteen years ago, I tried the Atkins diet with my dad and we both lost weight really quickly. And I'm still doing it. I still have my cheat days, but when you're breastfeeding you can't really starve yourself."
Kim says the beauty of the low-carb, high-fat Atkins diet is that she doesn't feel hungry all the time, and has been able to make impressive weight-loss progress without working out constantly.
"I haven't exercised a whole lot so far, just because I've been busy with the baby and I don't want to leave her," said Kardashian, who does Pilates and boot-camp workouts that combine cardio exercise with strength-training.
Kim has revived the popularity of the "new" Atkins diet, which emphasizes drastically limiting carbs and eating vegetables with high-quality animal proteins and fats, as well as other healthy fats such as olive oil and nuts.
Her daily menu, which is 1,800 to 2,200 calories and limits carbs to 50-60 net grams, looks like this:
Breakfast: Omelette or Greek yogurt with berries and slivered almonds.
Snacks: One to two ounces of nuts or a guacamole dip with fresh veggies.
Lunch and dinner: A serving of fish, poultry, eggs, or lean red meat with lots of fiber-rich vegetables prepared with olive oil.
The 5-foot-2 Kardashian has been also been breastfeeding (which burns up to 500 calories a day). The reality TV star previously said she wants to show off her baby-weight loss with a nude photo-spread down the line. For now, she wants to look good for her man, pop star Kanye West, 36.
"You want your guy to think you're really hot," she said. "I'll put something on and he'll say, 'No, that doesn't look good', and I'll trust him.' "
Becoming a mom has changed Kim's fashion style in other ways. "I want to dress a little lighter color-wise," she said. "I think North looks cute in light colors, and then I want to wear light colors. North doesn't typically wear pink, though. She wears mauve or blush, not, like, typical baby pink."
