Kim Kardashian remembers her dad, Kanye West's mom, in baby announcement

The announcement of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’s impending first child broke early this morning on Dec. 31. Moments ago, (Dec. 31), Kardashian updated her blog with a message to her fans about the happy news, which also references her late father Robert Kardashian’s and Kanye West’s late mother, Donda West’s, unfortunate absence for this momentous occasion.

Kim's blog post is titled "New Year, New Beginnings" and she wrote:

“It’s true!! Kanye and I are expecting a baby. We feel so blessed and lucky and wish that in addition to both of our families, his mom and my dad could be here to celebrate this special time with us. Looking forward to great new beginnings in 2013 and to starting a family. Happy New Year!!! Xo.”

West’s mother died from complications from cosmetic surgery in 2007 and Kardashian’s father died of esophageal cancer in 2003.

Twitter has been abuzz with messages of congratulations for the soon-to-be-parents, including “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” executive producer, Ryan Seacrest.

The impending Kardashian-West baby will be Kim and Kanye’s first child and Kim’s mother, Kris Jenner’s third grandchild. Kim’s sister, Kourtney has two children Mason and Penelope, with long-time beau Scott Disick. Sister Khloe Kardashian and Lamar Odom do not yet have a child, nor does brother, Rob Kardashian.
