She's shedding for the wedding, and Kim Kardashian is determined to lose five pounds more before she walks down the sure-to-be elegant aisle. To do so, she's kicked carbs and is following a strict high fat low carb ketogenic diet, reported Hollywood Life on April 2.

Kim has already lost 50 pounds on the Atkins diet, which puts the emphasis on protein, healthy fats and vegetables.

"She’ll eat veggies, but no noodles, rice or bread," commented a family insider. “It shocks her body. It’s the only way to get the weight off.”

Also on the menu: Nuts, which provide a source of fats, and chicken for protein. The high fat, low carb weight loss plan is designed to burn fat, using the stored fat as a source of fuel.

Counting carbohydrates is required on all the phases of the Atkins diet, which was recently updated to emphasize fiber and healthy fats, detailed in the book "The New Atkins Made Easy: A Faster, Simpler Way to Shed Weight and Feel Great -- Starting Today" (click for details).

Kim's not the only celebrity who's stepped up to the Atkins plate: Sharon Osbourne has been outspoken about her use of the weight loss plan to shed 23 pounds in six weeks.

In a recent interview with Reader's Digest, Sharon noted that she's a fan of the Atkins diet food products as well.

“I always used to leave the dinner table thinking, ‘What’s in my fridge?’,” she admitted, but now she turns to choices such as her personal favorite Chocolate Peanut Butter Atkins bars.

But you don't have to eat the company's products in order to follow the Atkins diet. The weight loss plan emphasizes unprocessed whole foods high in protein such as fish; healthy fats such as nuts and nutrient-dense veggies, said Colette Heimowitz, Vice President of Nutrition at the company, in an interview with E News.

"Keep your hunger in check by eating three regular-size meals (and your choice of two snacks) every day. Some people do better with four or five smaller meals each day. The important thing is to keep your appetite and your cravings under control," added Colette, who authored "The New Atkins for a New You Cookbook: 200 Simple and Delicious Low-Carb Recipes in 30 Minutes or Less."

And while losing weight on the Atkins diet doesn't require extreme workouts, Kim's hoping to boost her slim-down success by working out twice a day, said an insider. She pays special attention to her famous derriere.

"She does 100 squats each morning to lift her booty. She wants to look the best she possibly can for her wedding photos," said the source.
