Kim Kardashian's 7 lb ketogenic diet weight loss tip: Did corset waist training

Kim Kardashian confirmed her recent seven-pound weight loss on a low carb diet at the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards in Los Angeles Aug. 24.

Kardashian, who showed off major cleavage in a plunging Balmain mini-dress, admitted she began dieting the same day she tweeted that she wanted to lose an additional 15 to 20 pounds. "I did slim down, like 6 or 7 pounds," Kim told E! "When I was tweeting about it, that was the start, and I started that day and I did really low carbs, and I got it together."

Kardashian first tweeted about her weight loss plans on Aug. 1, when she posted an Instagram photo of herself from five years ago. Kim wrote in the caption, "I am 20 lbs lighter here! This was just five years ago! Ok, I'm going back on my grind. I gotta get back here!"

Four days later, on Aug. 5, Kardashian lamented on Twitter that "can't seem to shake this last 15 to 20 pounds of baby weight." Kim also complained that her body has changed after she gave birth, saying her hips and butt "are huge now," and that losing weight is a lot harder post-baby.

Ironically, the 5-foot-3 Kim had boasted on a recent episode of "Keeping Up With the Kardashians" that she weighs 125 pounds — five pounds less than her pre-pregnancy weight. However, that episode was filmed several months ago, and Kim has apparently gained some weight recently. Still, there's no denying she looks fantastic following her dramatic post-baby weight loss.

Kardashian lost 56 pounds in six months by following a low-carb, high-fat ketogenic-style Atkins diet that limited her daily carb intake to less than 60 grams. Focusing on healthy fats and limiting carbs promotes rapid weight loss by forcing the body to burn fat for fuel, said ketogenic diet expert Dr. Eric Westman, co-author of Keto Clarity.

Kim also worked out almost every day, combining strength-training, lots of squats and cardio exercise on the treadmill and elliptical trainer. Kardashian recently revealed that her weight loss regimen also includes corset "waist training," which involves wearing a corset for extended periods of time to make it smaller. Kim reportedly did waist training in the weeks leading up to her May 24 wedding to regain her signature hourglass figure.

While it may sound odd, "waist-training" or the "Corset Diet," is a weight loss trend some women use to winnow down their midsection. Proponents claim the "Corset Diet" can help women lost up to six inches from their waists, but health experts warn waist training can cause indigestion, constipation, rib pain and lung problems.
