When you're a fashion diva who wants to bring back your pre-baby body, a tummy tuck and liposuction are oh-so-tempting. However, when Kim Kardashian proposed plastic surgery for her post-pregnancy body, Kanye West vetoed her desire, reported TV Reality magazine on October 18.
Kim initially thought that a tummy tuck would do the trick for achieving her weight loss goals. But “Kanye told Kim in no uncertain terms that she needed to put her baby and her life first. He got pretty emotional because he really didn’t want her going through that kind of major surgery,” an insider revealed.
Instead, Kim sought help from Atkins diet guru Colette Heimowitz, vice president of Nutrition for Atkins Nutritionals and author of "The New Atkins for a New You Cookbook: 200 Simple and Delicious Low-Carb Recipes in 30 Minutes or Less" (click for details).
And she has additional support: Kanye, who's decided to try to take off the 14 pounds that he gained while Kim was pregnant, reported Contact Music on October 17.
Kim and Kanye are using the low-carb Atkins diet while Kim is breastfeeding. However, Kim began the plan with phase two so that she could eat more carbohydrates. And it's working: She's lost an estimated 70 pounds.
''Being a new nursing mother, she (Kim) needed adequate calories to be healthy for her child and keep up her milk production," said Colette. ''It's a very balanced way for her to lose the baby weight while continuing to properly care for her daughter.''
What about fitness? Kanye has joined Kim in taking bootcamp-style classes, according to People magazine.
The dynamic dieting duo took a 6:30 a.m. class at Barry's Bootcamp class in Sherman Oaks, Calif. recently, wearing matching black outfits.
"It was super early and a grueling workout," a source told Us Weekly. But "the couple was all smiles, showing affection toward each other and being very encouraging."
