Kim Burrell, ‘Sunday Best’ mentor, jazzy gospel recording artist, Stellar Award and Grammy nominee singer, brought the ‘Sunday Best’ crowd on their feet Sunday, Aug. 18. Oh, she is also Pastor of Love and Liberty Church in Texas.
Burrell sang the single, “Don’t Count Me Out,” and had the crowd cheering. She is a songstress who has sung with the best in Gospel and secular music, R. Kelly, Donnie McClurkin and Karen Clark-Sheard to name a few.
Sunday Best usually starts the show out with a popular recording artist to get the audience warmed up, and Kim did just that. Listen to the video.
Her smooth healing voice sounds like an instrument sent from the heavens. Not only is it her voice that is soothing, but the spirit behind it. She knows how to relate to people by first starting with her own life. She was also a dear friend of Whitney Houston.
This year, less than three weeks ago, Kim lost her eldest brother. He passed away in July, according to 103.9. So as she shares the song, she expresses the pain inside, but that it won’t last always. And ends up proclaiming, “Don’t Count Me Out.”
In life we all go through loss, hurt and defeat, but with God on our side, we’ll get through it.
If you’re going through a struggle, and feel like you can’t make it, declare this day, “Don’t Count Me Out.”
