Not far from Kauai's main airport in Lihue, you'll find the tropical 105 acre country estate known as Kilohana Plantation. With so much to see and do here, get ready to spend the day exploring, shopping and even tasting the finest rum in the islands!
Built in 1936 by sugar baron Gaylord Parke Wilcox, the estate boasts a 16,000 square foot mansion ready to transport you back in time with its original furnishings, artifacts and beautiful architecture. Across from the main house you can find the train depot where you can embark on an open air train ride through the plantation. As you journey through the working farm you'll have the opportunity to disembark to meet herds of sheep, goats and wild pigs too! Taro, banana, papaya and tropical flowers are just a small sample of the more than 50 fruits and vegetables grown here. 5 tours run daily.
Dine at Gaylord's Restaurant or spend time shopping for that unique hand crafted Hawaiian gift in one of the many shops located on the property. For a special treat, make reservations for Luau Kalamaku, known as Kauai's only theatrical luau. Delicious food, music and a show await you for a magical evening, not to be forgotten. Luau shows run Tuesdays and Fridays. Don't forget to visit the Koloa Rum Company's tasting room and company store. Try some of their award winning Kauai rum and check out their jams, jellies and other tasty products! A great place to feel the true Hawaiian spirit, the Kilohana Plantation is a true gem!
